For my job shadow I shadowed Maria C. Mendez. I was really excited to see what it is like to have a job like hers. She showed me the ins and outs of Daycare Service and how she sets everything up for fourteen children. She is a Daycare Provider which she has started on her own. I shadowed her because she took care of me I was interested in the field of work she was in. What I did during my job shadow was look around her home and she would show me what she would do to prepare for the children. She also had me take care of some kids while I was here and cook. Everything she showed me gave me a really big understanding of what she must do to take care of kids properly. Being a Daycare Provider isn’t as easy as I thought it would be though. She has a big responsibility for taking care of all those kids. Some of the things I liked about the experience were that it taught me about how hard it was to take care of children. I was very glad that she let me job shadow her. One thing that I didn’t like was that she has to get up at 4am to set everything up for the day. Some of the things I did learn though was that you must have patience for all the children and have good communication skills in order to have the kids listen to you. Right now after going through the whole job shadow I’m not interested in this job anymore because I wouldn’t like getting up at 4am for kids. But it is still a job I am willing to do if I was still interested in. It is a great paying job and if you like kids this might be the job for you. I would possibly consider this job in the future.
